Spring Break

LightLife Smart BBQ

In that last post I mentioned I was going to try out this BBQ again, and I did. Fortunately it didn't cause my stomach to be upset like it was last time. But the taste didn't really get any better. Just like the veggie dogs, you can tell it's really trying, but it's just not there. An immediate improvement would be changing the sauce. Throw some Sweet Baby Rays in there, dudes. The "meat" doesn't have the a fantastic texture. Like the flavor, it tries to be meat, but it's just different. But it tastes okay. Just not great. The smell on the other hand. That needs to get worked on. It smells bad. Straight up nasty. It was 18 degrees outside when I made it and I STILL opened my window up. Had to take out my trash because that one bag of BBQ was making my entire room stink. But that's about all I have to say about it. Will I buy it again? No. I will try another brand if I can find one, but I will not purchase this particular product a second time. Can I recommend it? Only if you're really, really hungry. And even then....

Veggie Burger
I had some veggie burgers a while back. I can't remember which brand so I can't give them a proper review until then. But I can tell you that I WILL be buying more next time I'm at the store.
Oh, and I tried some veggie BBQ. Verdict is still out on that one. I'm not sure if it caused my stomach to be really upset or not. I have a second batch of it that I'll have to try sometime after I'm done with classes this week.

6 pounds
My pants are starting to get looser, thankfully it's only a couple weeks before the quarter ends and I'll be able to swap out a few pairs of jeans over break. I *think* I'm starting to look thinner as well. Hurrah!

5 Pounds
I've lost 5 pounds so far. I'm 1/6th of the way there. In another 5 pounds I get to have DP Dough! YEAH. That's exciting.

More Energy
I've noticed I have more energy these days. It's almost irritating, because for the longest time one of the things my mom has been telling me to try to get me to eat healthier is that "you'll have more energy!". She's right. Again. I don't know why I doubt her on things. (Except chain mail.) But the important thing is that I'm more energetic. I feel good. I hardly eat a single time a week at the dining halls these days. I just feel better. The time it takes me to walk to my classes uptown have been cut in half. Such craziness. But it's nice to start seeing things in everyday life changing because of my eating habits.

Sabotage
Sabotaged. I've been sabotaged.
It was wonderful, kind, and awesome sabotage, but not good for my diet. Nayna sent me a Valentine. In the great decorated boxes came homemade brownies and Hershey kisses. Oh what am I to do. To be fair, I sent her a giant box of her favorite chocolate last year, and it arrived days after she started a diet. So it's basically just the other way around this year.

215. Oddly enough, I was right on the button with what I predicted I was. So, my goal is 185. Dropping 30 pounds. I wonder how long that'll take.

Smart Dogs, My Vegetarian Product Adventure

In my attempt to be more healthy I picked up a pack of veggie dogs. I thought it would be pretty wonderful if I could replace regular hot dogs with healthier hot dogs! It turned out to be pretty hit and miss. While it didn't taste like hot dogs, they weren't awful. Kinda a bizarre taste to them. Edible, but mustard and a glass of water won't hurt either. The regular sized dogs are 45 calories each, contain no meat, and come in packs of 8. It's worth noting that these dogs are much easier to tear than regular hot dogs, so take care when taking them out of the packaging. I'll probably purchase more in the future, but they're not something I'll drool over.

Excuse the mess/Diets
First off excuse the nasty look of the place. I kind of want to pimp the blog(s) out and get a good template going for them, but I just don't have the time right now. But on the subject of diets, I'm just not a big fan of them. Why can't healthy food taste good too? I'd be more than happy to go on a diet if I got to eat great tasting food all the time, rather than just use it as a "reward". I only have one life to live, and even though eating healthy will prolong it, I don't want to fill my days with horse food.

Creation!
Welcome to Healthy Hurts! I figure the name suits the blog because this is basically all about my working out, eating healthy, and losing weight. And in the past I've found all three to be fairly painful. One of the worst things being the pain I'm going to put my taste buds through. Healthy diet will probably be one of the first things I'll rant on and on about, but until then, I'm aiming to put up my starting weight (Oh I really, really don't want to know what it is) Sunday night. I know SOMEONE has got to have a scale. And I'm going to aim for 180-185. Going to keep people updated on my weight loss, how I'm losing it, and what I'm having to sadly give up. (I'm looking at you, DP Dough, my love.)
Rest of this week I'm going to try to find friends to work out with on a regular basis, and if I can't I'm just going to sign up with someone at the gym. Gotta lose this weight. Saturday night I'll grab some workout clothes at walmart, as I believe working out in a t-shirt and blue jeans wouldn't fly.
